The Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) mission experienced another Global Positioning System (GPS) anomaly that started around 22:44:05 UTC on September 24, 2024. Given the degradation in the geolocation performance, all production of Suomi NPP Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) land data products was temporarily suspended.

Following the event, performance was evaluated by the instrument Cal/Val teams and the anomaly was resolved on Friday, September 27. The geolocation accuracy has been restored, and standard processing has resumed. Data acquired from 00:00:00 UTC September 26, to 17:30:00 UTC September 27, 2024 was not recoverable and will not be processed for Suomi NPP VIIRS Version 2 (Collection 2) or Version 1 Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF) and Albedo data products.
